Garra rufa, commonly known as the Doctor Fish, is a peaceful and fascinating algae grazer best known for its use in spa therapy, where it gently nibbles dead skin. In aquariums, it’s a hardworking bottom-dweller that helps control algae and biofilm. With a streamlined body and sucker-like mouth, it thrives in well-oxygenated tanks with moderate flow and natural décor like rocks and wood.

• Temperature: 22–28°C

• pH: 6.5–7.5

• Water Hardness: Soft to Medium

• Minimum Tank Size: 70L

🍽️ Diet:

Omnivorous – feeds on algae, biofilm, sinking pellets, algae wafers, and blanched vegetables.

🤝 Compatibility:

Peaceful – does well in community tanks. Best kept singly or in groups of 3+ with enough space and structure to reduce territorial behaviour.
