The Flowerhorn Cichlid is a bold, colourful, and highly intelligent aquarium fish bred from a mix of Central American cichlid species. Known for its vivid colours, unique markings, and distinctive nuchal hump (kok), the Flowerhorn is a centrepiece species that quickly forms a bond with its owner and often recognizes them at the tank.
Originally developed through selective breeding, Flowerhorns are not found in the wild. While controversial among naturalistic hobbyists, they are celebrated by collectors and advanced aquarists for their personality, colour diversity, and interactive behaviour. They are best housed alone in large, well-filtered aquariums where they can thrive and grow to their full potential.
