The Kenyi Cichlid (Metriaclima lombardoi) is a bold and aggressive Mbuna species from Lake Malawi, well known for its dramatic colour transformation as it matures. Juvenile Kenyi are bright blue with dark vertical bars, while adult males develop a stunning vibrant yellow body with faint barring — creating a true showpiece for any African cichlid aquarium.
Highly territorial and dominant, Kenyi Cichlids are best suited for experienced hobbyists keeping Mbuna-only setups with plenty of rockwork and hiding spaces. Their energetic behaviour and changing appearance make them a standout species in larger Malawi tanks.
