A striking and rare addition to large freshwater tanks, Acrossocheilus paradoxus is a torpedo-shaped, semi-aggressive fish known for its bold black banding and active behaviour. Native to Taiwan’s fast-flowing streams, it’s ideal for river-style aquariums with high oxygenation and space to swim.

  • Size: Up to 15–18cm

  • Temperament: Semi-aggressive, best kept in small groups or with robust tankmates

  • Tank Size: 200 litres minimum

  • Water Parameters:

    • Temperature: 20–25°C

    • pH: 6.5–7.5

    • Strong flow and well-oxygenated water preferred

  • Diet: Omnivorous – sinking pellets, algae wafers, blanched veg, live/frozen foods

  • Compatibility: Keep with loaches, barbs, larger danios, and other fast-swimming species

Key Selling Point: A rare, fast-swimming species perfect for biotope or river-themed tanks – not your average community fish!
