The Red Shoulder Peacock Cichlid, also known as Aulonocara hansbaenschi, is a stunning and less common Peacock species from Lake Malawi. Males display a brilliant blue head and body, contrasted by intense red-orange “shoulder” patches that extend through the upper flanks and dorsal fin. This colour combination creates a vivid, show-quality fish that's highly sought-after by Peacock collectors.
Peaceful by nature, the Red Shoulder Peacock thrives in open aquascapes with rock structures and is best housed with other non-aggressive Malawi cichlids, such as fellow Peacocks or Haps. It’s a perfect choice for those looking to build a vibrant and harmonious African cichlid display.
